If you are in Paris to shop, there is no better road to stay on than Rue st Honore. And, thanks to a fashion makeover worthy of a couture house, the newly refurbished Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg is the ideal place to rest all your Chanel and Dior bags after a hard day’s perusing. While the hallways of the Sofitel have been redesigned to echo the fashionable history of Paris, it is the new 17 Collection Suites (430 sq ft) and 4 Opera Suites (550 sq ft) that have had the biggest overhaul. Everything from the materials, colours and furniture are chic and modern while the original cornices are a nod to the building’s 18th century heritage. All suites have Bose iPod docks, 42” flat screen televisions and the Opera Suites have their own Hammam showers.
The piecé-de-la-resistance however is The Couture Suite, pictured, the penthouse of the hotel. Containing fashion photography from Cathleen Naundorf, the 1,075 sq ft space has a dining room for up to 10 guests as well as gilded panels, a bainetherapy bath and a Hammam – in addition to all the luxurious extras you would expect.
That said, the standard rooms are equally as comfortable. A mix of modern décor and French flourishes, they are considerable in size and have new bathrooms, large beds and Sky TV. The restaurant downstairs has an outdoor terrace perfect for alfresco dinners in the summer or perfect for a coffee to pep you up before you hit the shops directly outside the hotel doors. Literally there is no better hotel to stay for proximity to all the Cartier you can muster…
Collection Suites and Opera Suites start from 695 Euros per night on a bed & breakfast basis.
The Couture Apartment starts from 2,500 Euros per night on a bed & breakfast basis.
