There is really nothing more irritating than lying there in the dark, tired and yet still awake at 4am. You might think this is something you are stuck with, or you might even be heading for Boots to invest in some Nytol, but why not book in for a little sleep therapy instead?
Rockliffe Hall isn’t technically in a city – it is just outside Darlington – but I thought I would cheat and write about it anyway as sometimes you really just need to get out of London and relax – and the Time to Dream Sleep Retreats that are launching at Rockliffe next year are worth putting your name down for early. But, if the country retreat seems a little decadent, the man in charge, Dr Guy Meadows, also works from the London Insomnia Clinic so you can fix your sleep issues from the big smoke if a relaxing mini break is not on the horizon.
If you are lucky enough to get a space, the premis behind the workshop is that you can relax, chill out with spa treatments while staying in a wonderful hotel, with the added bonus of having renowned sleep specialist on hand with all the methods, tricks and tips on how to get the perfect sleep.
Starting with a one day workshop on how to get a good night of natural sleep without the use of medication, Guy teaches guests how to stop struggling with insomnia and retrains the body to sleep again, by using a combination of mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy approaches.
And ladies, the added bonus is time in the specially designed Sleep Retreat relaxation lounge at the Spa at Rockliffe Hall as well as special ila treatments which help to relax the body and mind.
Prices start from £375 per person based on two sharing. The programme includes Dr Guy Meadows Sleep Workshop, Ila Dreamtime treatment, lunch, dinner and breakfast and use of the Spa at Rockliffe Hall.
